The Bee Well Buzz…
Wednesday, November 4th, 2009
I can not stop buzzing about Pearl Jam and not only are they playing but they are closing the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Pearl Jam will be rocking the city of brotherly love on the 27th, 28th, 30th and 31st. I will be seeing the last two shows! I am really excited because Pearl Jam has a song called Bee Girl, so I finally get to dress up like a bee and go see Pearl Jam! What a dream….and just when I thought things could not get better, on Saturday Oct. 31st, the last show at the Spectrum EVER, I heard Pearl Jam is going to play every song in the Pearl Jam catalog. This means the shows will go until 2am!!!! These guys a crazy, and that is one reason they are my favorite band.
The Spectrum has a very special place in music history and it will be sad to see it go, yet I feel honored to be a part of the last shows. The Spectrum time line began in 1967. It hosted many sports teams, events and of course concerts. The Grateful Dead played the Spectrum 54 times, by far the most of any other musical act. The remaining members of The Grateful Dead; including Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann performed their final set of shows at the Spectrum on May 1st and 2nd, 2009; the May 2nd show was their 54th consecutive sell out at the Spectrum. The Dead closed the May 2nd show with the song Samson and Delilah. The song contains the fitting refrain "If I had my way, I would tear this old building down." The lyric was changed by bands singer Bob Weir to say "I wouldn’t tear this old building down." Well, I along with 18,368 people we will be the last people to see this old building before they tear it down.
So I went to Pearl Jam and saw them close out the Spectrum, here I am in my Bee Girl costume along with my friend Marc who was Love Boat Captain, we are Pearl Jam songs!

As you all know I spent alot of time in Philly, and the music scene was a huge part of my life. One of my favorite bands ever from Philadelphia was a band called Townhall. Townhall is no longer together but I am very grateful to still be in touch with one of the members, George Stanford who now is out in California doing some solo work. I feel so happy that I got a chance to talk with George about these changes in his music and life. To read this special interview please visit www.glidemagazine.com
