Pearl Jam

Monday, March 17th, 2008
pjold.jpgPearl Jam is one of the best bands in the world, they sing about real issues, with passion and grace. Don’t let me give you the wrong impression they also know how to play fun and happy rockin’ tunes! There are so many very cool things about Pearl Jam, there are many reasons I am proud to call them my favorite band ever! They know it is important to get involved with organizations to support the earth, politics and people struggling with illness and serious challenges. Here are just a few of things they have done.
PJ is green! I found this information off of www.treehugger.com. This is a very cool website all about living green.

In 2003, the band paid to offset 5,700 tons of CO2 emissions created by its touring that year. In 2004, guitarist Stone Gossard "spearheaded an effort on the 2004 Vote for Change tour called the "Vote for Change Renewable Energy Project" that raised $77,000 to fund a variety of small-scale renewable energy projects in several of the states the tour traveled through." The donation announced today represents only a part of the band’s effort this year: they’ll also use 100% biodiesel in all of their tour buses and production trucks.

GREEN THUMBS UP TO…
Rock band Pearl Jam, who called out British Petroleum (BP) for having obtained approval to dump 54% more ammonia into Lake Michigan. According to the Chicago Tribune, Indiana’s environmental officials have allowed "BP to dump an average of 1,584 pounds of ammonia and 4,925 pounds of suspended solids into the lake every day." BP defends the move, saying ammonia levels are still at 50% of the federal standards, and that it’s the heavier crude oil that’s forcing the change in processing. Pearl Jam’s not buying it, and even penned a protest ditty that they sang at this year’s Lollapalooza: "Don’t Go to BP Amoco."

I was lucky enough to see Pearl Jam at The Bridge School Benefits in 2006. The Bridge School is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure that individuals with severe speech and physical impairments achieve full participation in their communities through the use of augmentative & alternative means of communication (AAC) and assistive technology (AT) applications and through the development, implementation and dissemination of innovative life-long educational strategies.-www.bridgeschool.org.  This benefit is hosted and run by Neil Young. Its truly an amazing festival.  The Festival is all acoustic, everybody is there to see music, the musicians are not there to make money, so as you can imagine the vibe at Shoreline is a great feeling, I recommend going and I hope to go again many times!
Mike Mcready and his band Flight To Mars will perform a special benefit concert for the Northwest Chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) at Seattle’s Showbox.

Pearl Jam fans are also inspired by PJ’s dedication to helping make the world a better place, Pearl Jam fans are the founders of an organization called The Wishlist Foundation. Here is there mission:

The Wishlist Foundation is a Pearl Jam fan nonprofit, grassroots organization dedicated to supporting Pearl Jam’s charitable and philanthropic goals.

Our ongoing mission is to utilize the collective ability of Pearl Jam fans around the globe to make a difference in the world. Together we can do so much more as a group than by each one of us acting individually.

With your help, we can work towards a common greater good for all of our beneficiaries by participating in these activities, just to name a few:

  • education
  • fundraising
  • increasing awareness
  • involvement
  • community service

Our inspiration comes from interviews, lyrics, songs and words of encouragement from the band Pearl Jam.

This is just a short list of everything they are doing to make the world a better place. The best thing they are doing, I think, is making music. This band is fearless, passionate, and graceful with their music, and business. With their start in the mid 90’s as another Seattle grunge band, they have proved themselves through history to be a bad ass grunge band and have grown up to be knowledgeable, loyal and one of the most respected bands among musicians, music fans and the  music industry. If you don’t listen to Pearl Jam, but think you would like to there are a lot of live shows that you can get in your local cd store. I would recommend picking up their first album Ten, or No Code or their latest album Pearl Jam. They also have a greatest hits cd, and some killer dvd’s, I would recommend Madison Square Garden, its so good!!! Of course the best way to totally get the Pearl Jam experience is go to a show. I will see you there!!  www.pearljam.com

You rock Pearl Jam!

Hail Hail

ah, is there room for both of us?
both of us apart?
are we bound out of obligation?
is that all we’ve got?
i get the words, and then i get to thinkin’
i don’t wanna think, i wanna feel
and how do i feel?
and how do i…
if you’re the only one, will i never be enough?
hail, hail the lucky ones, i refer to those in love
swore i’d love you till the day i die, and beyond..
are we going to the same place? if so, can i come?
it’s egg rolling thick and heavy
all the past you carry
oh, i could be new… you underestimate me
if you’re the only one, will i never be enough?
hail, hail the lucky ones, i refer to those in love
i sometimes realize i could only be as good as you’ll let me
are you woman enough to be my man?
bandaged hand in hand

i find it on the run in a race that can’t be won
all hail the lucky ones, i refer to those in love
if you’re my only one, so could you only one?
i want to be your one, enough…
you won, your one, your hun

"Thanks so much for everything Nathan, I am so grateful to have you in my life"

Thanks to Nathan I am an official member of the ten club!

Bee Well’s winter song…..

Friday, February 1st, 2008

pjlean.jpg

This is my favorite song for the winter time. The lyrics seem to always take on a new meaning each winter depending on whats going on in my life.

Thumbing My Way

i have not been home since you left long ago
i’m thumbing my way back to heaven
counting steps, walking backwards on the road
i’m counting my way back to heaven
i can’t be free with what’s locked inside of me
if there was a key, you took it in your hand
there’s no wrong or right, but i’m sure there’s good and bad
the questions linger overhead
no matter how cold the winter, there’s a springtime ahead
i’m thumbing my way back to heaven
i wish that i could hold you
i wish that i had
thinking ’bout heaven
i let go of a rope, thinking that’s what held me back
and in time i’ve realized, it’s now wrapped around my neck
i can’t see what’s next, from this lonely overpass
hang my head and count my steps, as another car goes past
all the rusted signs we ignore throughout our lives
choosing the shiny ones instead
i turned my back, now there’s no turning back
no matter how cold the winter, there’s a springtime ahead
i smile, but who am i kidding?
i’m just walking the miles, every once in a while i’ll get a ride
i’m thumbing my way back to heaven
thumbing my way back to heaven
i’m thumbing my way back to heaven…

This is my song!

 "Bee Girl"

Bee girl, you’re gonna die.
You don’t wanna be famous, you wanna be shy.
Do your dances alone in your room.
Becoming a star will become your doom.
Bee Girl, be a girl.

You know time is long, and life is short.
Begin to live while you still can.
Believe in nothing, believe me,
Those who can be trusted can change their mind.
When the anxious is the present, unwrap your gifts, take your time.
Everything you imagine needn’t be stuck in your mind.
Bee Girl, be a girl… -Pearl Jam

Why Pearl Jam?

pjnate.jpgHere at Bee Well Massage, all music is appreciated. However here at BWM Pearl Jam is number 1!!! Here is a spot to share show stories, memories, what you love about the band, or just any thoughts and ideas you have about Pearl Jam, please remember this is a fan page, please keep all negative comments to yourself.

Why Pearl Jam???? Greetings Jamily- With so much music out there to love I wanted to explain why I love Pearl Jam so much and why they are important to my life and business. Even though I love so much music and usually when someone loves music as much as me it is hard to pick one favorite band, but for some reason it is so easy for me to say “Yes Pearl Jam is my number one!” When I was in seventh grade I listened to The Beatles, The Dead, The Allman brothers and RAP and that was it! Yes I said it, I loved rap music. My best friend was annoyed with my taste in rap so one day she handed me the Ten album. This one album was about to change everything! I listened to it, and I listened to it, and I listened to it again, I could not get enough of it. I loved the sound of the voice coming from my radio, it grabbed me and pulled me in like something I have never experienced with music and I have not experienced it since. I was so turned on by the passion and the fullness of Eddies voice and I could not understand how it was moving my soul. This was also my first experince with trying to hear every instruments as seperate pieces of a band! Not a great band to try to this with, they were so tight and together with every note! I then opened the cover and saw an amazing picture of five men all giving eachother a high five and I wanted to be apart of something so strong. I was soon learning all the words I could and anything I could about this new band that had so ubruptly changed how I looked at music. So with Pearl Jam as my number one, I was soon turned on to so much music I had no idea was out there. I started to really listen closer to the Beatles, The Dead and The Allman Bros it was all so real to me, real music with real people, playing real instruments. It had hit me like a ton of bricks, it was all so obvious that this what moved my being when it came to music. Some f-in kick ass rock and roll! One of the many things that turned me on was how Pearl Jam were the rebels but in a safe and graceful way, sort of like me in seventh grade! I wanted to be so bad ass like Pearl Jam so I got into the grunge thing. I did not want to join the ten club because that is what everybody was doing and I was convinced that being a Pearl Jam fan meant you went to the beat of your own drum(or Daves at the time). So after discovering Pearl Jam in seventh grade I started to really look and discover myself. I did not care what people thought of me anymore, I did not fall into the pressures that some teenagers did because I wanted to be different, I wanted to be like no one else. To this day I feel as though Pearl Jam has grown up with me, they had stages in their lives personally and as a band that they went through as I was going through personal changes in my life. Now that we are all adults I can really say Pearl Jam puts into words everything I feel but can not say. For me they just reached into my soul so deep that my soul will never be without them. I love how if I am having a bad day I play Alive or Courdaroy, if I have a broken heart Off He Goes, and Red Misquito as well as Smile can make me feel better. If I want to be alone and get rid of some stress there is no better therapy for me then Release, Parachuets or Indifference. No matter what mood I am in Hard To Imagine just makes my whole insides tingle and feel so warm and content! I love every song, I love every word, I love everything! They are the only band I can dance to, excericise to, relax to and feel totally content with their sound in my ears. I am convinced that if it was not for Pearl Jam to help me release my stress and help me deal with my feelings I would be in a psych hospital. Every time I listen to any Pearl Jam album I hear new things, a find new lyrics that touch my heart its so mesmorizing to me. I just can never get enough and there is something to always learn and discover when it comes to this band. When I started to work in the music business I started realizing how smart they are as a business. Some of us may forget (and I do all to often) that this is their job, and man they do it so well. If I can run my business as smooth and successful as they have ran theirs I will be so happy.   I know Pearl Jam, me and PJ fans everywhere are connected by some special force in the universe and I love it! I love Pearl Jam they are the best! Bee Well Jamily!
