Ask Bee Well& Massage tip #9

Dear Bee Well,
Its so hot out, and my body is craving more fresh vegetables, and fresh food, can you please give all your readers some suggestions on how to eat more for this summer season? Thanks, fresh food seeker
Dear Fresh Food Seeker,
What a great question. I am in the same situation. I would suggest lots of salads! Take any fruits, vegetables, and nuts, or seeds and just have fun with it.You could try to make your salad as colorful as you can,to get lots if variety and you won’t get sick of the same thing. Make sure the food you are eating is as local as possible, and of course eat organic when its an option. Always drink lots of water and make your own lemonades and ice-tea that way you know exactly what is in it. Always give thanks for your food. If you want more information on this please contact me at melissa@beewellmassage.com. This could also be a better question for The Healthy Hippie. She is the health counselor and I am sure has great ideas, and advice. Please visit www.healthyhippiemagazine.net for more info.

Dear Bee Well,
I am a 25 year old female confused about what I want to do with my life, and I have been thinking about massage school, can you tell me what you think it takes to be a massage therapist? Thanks student in Philly
Dear Student in Philly.
This is a very good question and I am happy you asked. I once worked with a woman who told me she wanted to be a massage therapist, and enrolled in school only to quit when she found out she had to cut her finger nails! In my opionion the biggest thing is you have to want to help people, you have to really genuinly care about people. Massage Therapy is a job that is 100% about the client. You are using your energy, knowledge and skills to help them. It can be a nervous thing for a client to see a therapist and tell them their health issues, personal concerns, etc, so I think CMT’s need to be understanding, patient and willing to work hard. You have to like to work with your hands. I also feel massage therapy is more than a job, it must be your lifestyle. You must think and act like a massage therapist at all times. If you have more specific question please email me at melissa@beewellmassage.com . Thanks and I hope this helps. Bee Well.

This was a question I received through my private email from a male singer in a band.

Dear Bee Well,

As a singer in a band, I find my throat gets sore all the time, I hear honey can be beneficial, I thought I would ask the expert? Any advice?

YES! Honey is great for a sore throat! Eat spoon fulls of raw honey atleast once a day as well as before or after a show, my favorite thing is honey and lemon tea, that feels good on your throat too!  Here is a recipe that I found in the book I am reading The Hive by Bee Wilson. I thought it might be beneficial for a rock star with a sore throat…

mix 2 tablespoons whiskey with one tablespoon honey, add hot water and drink! Yummy-
